Perth, Australia (30 September 2016) – 2016 marks a pivotal year for Asia Pacific as several mega projects transition to operations and others complete construction. Frontier exploration is underway in several Asia Pacific basins, technology enabled developments are progressing and unconventional opportunities are being unlocked.

The SPE Asia Pacific Oil & Gas Conference and Exhibition (APOGCE) 2016 will apply lessons learnt from the recent past and respond to emerging technical, regulatory and societal challenges. Keynote speeches, panel discussions and technical papers are targeted to deliver insights to address these challenges. The event will be held in Perth, Australia from 25 to 27 October this year.

Gerry Flaherty, Conference Chairman, APOGCE 2016 and General Manager of Asset Development, Chevron Australia said, “APOGCE is the premier upstream technical conference in the Asia Pacific region, covering the broadest range of disciplines involved in exploration and production activities. The event will draw industry experts and professionals together and provide an important platform for technology dissemination, knowledge sharing and collaboration at regional and global scales.”

Themed “Catching the Next Wave – Delivering Affordable Energy”, the multi-disciplinary programme at APOGCE will feature over 300 technical presentations from more than 100 organisations and 30 countries. Topical issues on collaboration, public perception on the industry, asset integrity management and the regulatory environment will also be discussed.

Participating industry players include Chevron, BHP Billiton, ExxonMobil, FMC Technologies, Halliburton, INPEX, PETRONAS, PTTEP, Quadrant Energy, Santos, Schlumberger, Woodside Energy, Weatherford, and more.

APOGCE will also feature important programmes aimed at shaping the growth of our industry’s young professionals and student members. Young professionals will learn from and engage with industry leaders at the APOGCE Young Professionals Workshop while university students from across the region have the opportunity to compete in the Regional Student Paper Contest. In addition, local high school teachers and students will explore stimulating components of our industry through the Teachers’ Day and Education Day Energy4Me workshops.
