10th IPTC Brings Top Speaker Line-Up and Strong Technical Programme Together

Bangkok, Thailand (5 OCTOBER 2016) – The tenth edition of the International Petroleum Technology Conference (IPTC) returns to Bangkok from 14 – 15 November 2016 at the Bangkok Convention Centre at CentralWorld. This edition is hosted by Thailand’s national oil company; PTTEP; and its principal sponsor is Halliburton.
Themed “Innovation and Efficiency Excellence for our Energy Future”, IPTC will focus on how the energy industry has developed effective practices for collaboration to accelerate the invention and application of new work processes, methods and technology. Over 4,000 participants from around the globe including senior government officials, industry leaders and technical professionals are due to converge on Bangkok for this opportunity to network and exchange perspectives.

This year, a panel of industry heavyweights will tackle the conference theme in the Executive Plenary Session on the first day. Speakers include Bakheet Al Katheeri, Chief Growth Officer at Mubadala Petroleum; Datuk Mohd Anuar Taib, Executive Vice President and CEO, Upstream of PETRONAS; Somporn Vongvuthipornchai, President and CEO of PTTEP ;Patrick Schorn, President – Operations at Schlumberger ;Bernard J. Duroc-Danner, Chairman, CEO and President of Weatherford International; and Peter Coleman, Managing Director and CEO of Woodside Energy Ltd.
In addition, there will be five panel discussions focused on Partnership in a New Paradigm, Innovative Technology and Industry Trends, Advances in Technology to Access Resources and Targeting Perfect HSSE Culture, Sustainability and Community Harmony.
Four ‘Ask the Expert’ Sessions by –technical industry gurus will deep dive into offshore field development and project management; play-based exploration; technology and skills; hydraulic fracturing; and modelling geology using geostatistics.
The synergies between IPTC’s four sponsoring societies; the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE), the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG), and the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), will ensure an outstanding multi-disciplinary technical programme. It will feature over 300 technical papers by 129 organisations from 40 countries across 53 technical sessions covering geosciences, integrated reservoir modelling, reservoir engineering, drilling and completions, development and production, facilities, unconventionals and midstream gas.
The event will welcome over 600 participating organisations from over 50 countries, and the exhibition will showcase the latest technological advancements, innovations and achievements from over 40 exhibitors, in an exhibition spanning over 2,000m2. The IPTC “Excellence in Project Integration” Award will also recognize major projects, which demonstrated distinction
throughout the entire E&P value chain. The two finalists for 2016 are the Keshen Development Project (China National
Development Corporation) and the Laggan-Tormore (Total).
Other highlights, such as the Emerging Leaders Workshop themed “Emerging Leaders: The Catalyst for Innovation and
Efficiency Excellence”, Education Week and Education Days will also be held in conjunction with this world-class event.
These elements will bring young professionals, international students from selected universities, local high school
students and teachers together to gain insights into the energy industry.
